Assists certified A&P mechanics in inspecting, repairing, and maintaining aircraft in accordance with FAA regulations and manufacturer specifications. This role is designed to provide hands-on experience and training in preparation for FAA certification as an Airframe & Powerplant Mechanic.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Apprentices will assist in the repair, maintenance and troubleshooting of airframes, engine systems, parts and components
- Assist mechanics with variety of mechanical duties on various aircraft models involving diagnosis of repair and rework to various aircraft systems to prepare aircraft for customer delivery
- Utilize equipment such as tensiometers, micrometers, pressure gauges, dial gauges, vacuum gauges, and a variety of hand tools to assist mechanics with repairing aircraft
- Perform general cleaning and organizing of service center facilities
- Help perform cleaning and routine maintenance checks
- Work in accordance with established safety practices including proper use of personal protective equipment; maintain a neat and orderly work area

Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Must possess and maintain a current and valid license.
- Must meet the requirements of Airport Authority to be receive a badge and have no ramp restrictions.
Communication Skills:
Must be able to read and speak English. Must be able to communicate effectively with other personnel.
Mathematical Skills:
Basic math skills.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
Computer Skills:
Basic computer aptitude required.
Physical Requirements:- Must be able to stand, stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl.
- Occasional periods of walking, sitting, rotation, bending, pushing, pulling, and reaching.
- Occasionally lifting up to 25 lbs, and frequently lifting up to 10 lbs.
Work Environment:- Frequent exposure to general shop conditions, engine noise.
- Frequent exposure to aircraft exhaust, moving mechanical parts, lubricants, metals, and solvents.
